Genius Writing Olympiad
Use your writing to raise awareness about global environmental problems
What is the GENIUS Writing about?
In your GENIUS Writing Olympiad you will write about global environmental issues, in one of the following formats:
Short Story: may be in any style or genre; realism, science fiction, horror, romance, fantasy, mystery, etc.
Essay (memoir or true story): provide a glimpse into your own reflections and ruminations on something that actually happened.
Poetry: up to 3 poems, in any form or style.
You can read about GENIUS Business Olympiad on its website here.
What work is involved?
You will work for several months (typically between 3 and 6 months) to
find inspiration for the specific topic and form,
conduct the required research, prepare notes and practice technique,
write a series of drafts, until you are happy with your work,
collect and act on feedback from a limited circle of readers: your mentor, friends and family.
Am I eligible?
Genius Business Olympiad is open to all students in years 9 through 12. Both US and international students can apply. If you have not turned 17 yet, you will need an adult supervisor to attend the competition with you. For Genius Writing Olympiad, you cannot be working in a team - your work has to be only written by yourself.
When can I apply?
You should submit your work by 11:59pm on Match 1 2024. Finalists will be announced around late March or early April. The finals will take place in June.
How will

help
Ideation: you will brainstorm and discuss your ideas with your Ariton mentor. They will help you also select the form that is most suitable given your preference, but also your style and writing experience.
Mentorship: an experienced Ariton consultant with years of academic and creative writing experience will be working with you on a weekly basis. Our mentors previously started companies, worked in major corporations and prepared large business proposals, as well as led teams to successfully compete in the Genius Olympiad.
Expert technique training: Ariton mentors have writing experience both in academic and creative contexts. We will work with you closely on developing your skillset and level up your writing before you make the final submission.
Coaching sessions: from ideation to extensive draft reviews, your Ariton mentor will be with you every step of the way.
Project management: there is a lot of work involved in completing the Genius Writing Olympiad, and it will be your Ariton mentor's priority to ensure you are on track.
